“We’re very pleased to welcome Chloe into Atheon Consulting – her retail and accounting background broadens the capabilities of the senior team, and her experience in using Omniscope in retail analysis scenarios, whilst at Sainsbury’s, is of significant interest to many of our existing customers.”

Tracking the Spread of Swine Flu with Visokio Omniscope

Visokio’s own ‘Swine Flu’ file, available to view for anyone with a minimum free viewer Omniscope licence, shows once again the flexibility and insight capabilities of the software. The file is simple to use and relies heavily on geographical mapping, which shows neatly the current spread of the virus across the world. Users can then ‘drill down’ into the file by selecting areas of interest, and these are then enlarged for enhanced localised insight.

Such techniques have been put to good use by Atheon Consulting in the retail sector, for example allowing clients to map stock levels and drill down to identify successful/problem stores. Such insight has been appreciated by clients, who have benefitted from the quick analysis potential of this dimension of Omniscope.

The partnership has been productive and brought tangible benefits to Colgate Palmolive in terms of the process and results of their data analysis and management. "We have had Omniscope for less than a year, but are already reaping its benefits” enthused Catherine Smoothy, Head of Category Management at the firm. “We realised the power of the tool in helping us manage, manipulate and visually present our data more effectively. In saving us time it has enabled us to expand our capabilities into new areas and explore data at new depths at a time when business agility is of paramount importance."

The brief was to provide a reporting suite that would allow for user-friendly data management and data insight, and that would facilitate the key end-user task of category management decision-making based on that insight. The reporting capabilities required also included geographical mapping, to allow for sophisticated analysis of store level data. Atheon’s success in delivering this project for Nestle UK has allowed the client team to “take a new look at a broad range of data from differing databases at one time, to be able to create category based recommendations, which in turn have benefited the brand” in the words of Account Manager Adrian Linforth.

Omniscope provides huge benefits in terms of cutting down the time required in data management, and allows for a greater focus on the more valuable task of data insight and decision-making. It is powerful enough to drastically change existing data management practices, as Sainsbury’s’ Analyst Simon Runc discovered:

“The two main ways it’s changed how I work is with the amount of data I can process and the speed at which I can drill an investigation. The other area, which we are just starting to exploit, is using Omniscope to create Model/Template for PIRs which means it’s very quick to analyse different categories by changing the software.”

The Sainsbury’s team also commented positively on Atheon Consulting: “The team come across as Omniscope enthusiasts, and really embrace what Omniscope can do....”

The team are responsible for the management of the full portfolio of products and the development of long-term strategic business relationships with their retail partners. The Colgate-Palmolive customer development team manage every aspect of the relationship between Colgate and the accounts.

Rich data was available to the Colgate-Palmolive Account team; however using it to its fullest potential was both time consuming and complex. Building a sophisticated picture of future performance was a challenge. Atheon Consulting worked closely with the Account team to build a model that allows flexible analysis and has become central to long-term decision making. The team have been trained on the model in terms of how to best draw data insight and how to update it for future use. Feedback from the Account team has been universally positive, and the team have already used the model with the retailer to highlight risks and opportunities.

"We're lucky to have customers and business partners who never shy from voicing their opinion on how we perform. The feedback from all quarters was that Atheon delivers great results in black and white... so the theme for our new branding was handed to us by those who know us best."

The new clean cut approach has been deployed on the Atheon group website, as well as sister company Atheon Software Products, and marks the transition from one financial year to another.
