Omniscope for the Supply Chain Network
Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 12:25PM Atheon Consulting Managing Director, Guy Cuthbert, gave a presentation to the Supply Chain Network interest group of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport ("CILT") on Monday evening, as part of CILT's London Region information programme.
The presentation, entitled "Data Mining the Supply Chain", focused on the rationale, technique and benefits offered by visual analysis of large data sets and included a hands-on demonstration of techniques developed by Atheon Consulting using Visokio Omniscope. Attendees of the event, part of a regular series organised by Supply Chain Network group leader Kirsten Tisdale, included representatives from the likes of John Lewis Partnership, Pitney Bowes, Prolog, Tetley and the University of Bedford.
Guy Cuthbert noted "Visual Analysis techniques benefit anyone working with large, complex data sets, and whilst our experience has been gained primarily in the retail and media sectors, it was clear from the audience that many of the approaches we have developed will be of use to Supply Chain professionals from any field. The audience engaged with the presentation and I found the dialogue very interesting; attendees noted opportunities for analysis of inventory levels, reordering processes, replenishment forecasting and cost-to-serve modelling."
Kirsten Tisdale, owner of Aricia Ltd and chair of the CILT Supply Chain Network, commented "We don't usually have product demos at Supply Chain Network, but I was so impressed when I saw this that I asked Atheon to come along. I've gone ahead and bought Omniscope for my business, because I can see real value in what it can deliver in a logistics environment."
